Anne Block Østergaard
Anne Block Østergaard is Group Senior Vice President and part of the executive management team at Systematic, Scandinavia’s largest privately-owned software company. The company provides mission-critical software solutions in areas such as healthcare and defense to more than 50 countries, including the USA, Germany, and Australia.
“Systematic has a strong focus on employee well-being, development, and continuing education. With the mission-critical software products we deliver to our clients, quality and a focus on new technologies are crucial, and this requires skilled employees. Therefore, we invest heavily in our employees. Employee development happens both through everyday job experiences and through internal and external training programs,” says Anne Block Østergaard.
The company’s focus on education and development has also had a direct impact on Anne herself. She chose to participate in the Executive Management Programme, offered in collaboration with the French business school INSEAD. A decision closely linked to the company’s upcoming international growth journey. Her decision to participate in the program was driven by the desire to enhance her toolkit—particularly tools and methods related to strategy, innovation, and change management.
“The program featured highly competent and skilled instructors who were very inspiring. It is a well-rounded program with a wide range of topics, offering a good mix of theoretical instruction and numerous case studies. The program has provided me with new perspectives and knowledge that I will carry forward. Additionally, it has supported my personal journey, where I am focusing on both personal and leadership development. Overall, I feel that the executive program has strengthened me and also affirmed the things we are already doing right,” she says.
Learning Brings New Patterns of Thinking
According to Anne Block Østergaard, the educational program has challenged her thinking patterns on several levels.
“I have learned methods to think differently, to break away from conventional thought patterns, and to challenge the familiar. Another aspect concerns the strategic approach to change. I have been equipped with strategic models and tools for effective change management, which are crucial in our industry, where focus and adaptability are key elements. Last but not least, I have experienced personal development as a leader, which has enabled me to reflect on and strengthen my own leadership style.”
The Systematic CEO is confident that the new knowledge gained from the executive program will positively contribute to the extensive growth journey the company is facing.
“It’s so important to continue acquiring new knowledge and to be open to external input. This applies regardless of where you are in the organization. The program has not only enhanced my professional skills but also expanded my network and provided insight into the challenges others face. This broader understanding and the new connections are invaluable, as collaboration and knowledge exchange across industries play a crucial role in success,” she concludes.
