For Anders Hestehauge Jensen, Regional Director at Sparekassen Danmark, participating in the Executive Management Programme was about more than just career advancement. It was an opportunity to grow as a leader – both for himself and for his organization.

“I wanted to develop as a leader and gain tools that would strengthen me in my daily work. It was also an investment in my personal growth,” says Anders, who quickly experienced how the programme provided him with new perspectives and practical tools to tackle current challenges.

Tools That Can Be Applied Immediately

One of the key strengths of the Executive Management Programme is the way it equips participants with practical tools they can apply right away. For Anders, this was evident during the very first module.

“While I was at Module 1, some organizational challenges arose at work, and I used the models on structure and culture that we learned from Manuel Knight. By applying those frameworks, I was able to communicate more clearly than I might have otherwise – and with great success.”

The tools also proved valuable in high-stakes situations. “Jesper Klit’s insights on communication helped me prepare for speaking in front of 1,000 people. I knew exactly what to work on and even asked three colleagues to observe me with specific focus points in mind. I had been a bit apprehensive about the task, but now, I actually look forward to being on stage again.”

Unique Bonds and Lifelong Connections

For Anders, one of the standout aspects of the programme was the close connections formed with other participants.

“You develop a truly unique relationship with the group. There’s a strong sense of trust, and there isn’t a single person in the group I wouldn’t feel comfortable calling for advice.”

The diversity of participants – from both private and public organizations – added further value. “It was incredibly beneficial to gain new perspectives on leadership. If you’re open to it, there’s so much to learn from others’ experiences and viewpoints.”

Anders also highlights the importance of the network built during the program: “You should emphasize the networking aspect even more. Before I joined, I spoke to colleagues who participated years ago, and they’re still in touch with their groups, following each other’s careers. That’s a huge advantage and something I find really inspiring.”

Over time, these relationships deepened: “From module to module, the connections grew stronger and stronger across the group. If you’re willing to be challenged and don’t just stick with the people you naturally gravitate towards, you’ll build some incredible and exciting relationships. When you’re open to letting things unfold, you’ll end up enriched.”

Testing Tools Through Case Work

The programme’s emphasis on case work also stood out for Anders, as it allowed him to test and apply what he learned in a collaborative setting.

“The case work is genuinely interesting. You get to put the tools into practice and try things out in a real-world context.”

A Unique Learning Experience

Reflecting on the programme as a whole, Anders emphasizes its distinctiveness: “You describe the programme as unique, and I have to agree. I honestly don’t see where I could get something similar.”

The Executive Management Programme left Anders with not only enhanced skills and tools for leadership but also a network of peers who continue to provide inspiration and support. For those considering the programme, his advice is clear: “Be open, engage fully, and take every opportunity to learn – you’ll come out stronger, both as a leader and as a person.”
